Updated: Nov 24

There is an exciting event that Laredo, Texas, has been waiting for a long time. After over eight years, the Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will return to the Sames Auto Arena on January 26–27, 2024. PBR Laredo is an exciting event that offers two nights of incredible action featuring the best bull riders in the world competing against the fiercest bovine athletes. We'll explore the thrills of PBR Laredo, the significance of the Velocity Tour, and the background of this thrilling event in this blog post.

PBR's Velocity Tour: A Resounding Success

PBR's return to Laredo comes on the heels of a highly dynamic 2023 season for the Velocity Tour. This expansion series experienced unprecedented success, shattering attendance, and competition records, making it one of the most prosperous seasons. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of professional bull riding, and PBR's Velocity Tour has played a pivotal role in this resurgence.

PBR Velocity Tour in Laredo: A Historical Perspective

The Velocity Tour's forthcoming PBR Laredo event will be the eighth of the new individual season. When the tour last visited Laredo in January 2015, fans saw Texan bull rider Bryan Titman put on an incredible show. Titman won his maiden race on the expansion tour thanks to a perfect 2-for-2 ride.

In Round 1, Titman scored impressive, riding Fukashima (Covenant Livestock) for 84 points. He then reached the pinnacle of the leaderboard in Round 2, mastering Rusty Rooster (Covenant Livestock) for 86 points. Titman sealed his PBR Laredo victory in the championship round by outperforming Red Dingo (Currey Creek Bucking Bulls & Cattle Co.) with an astounding 88 points.

The Schedule for PBR Laredo

The excitement at PBR Laredo kicks off with Round 1 at 7:00 p.m. CT on Friday, January 26. On Saturday, January 27, fans can look forward to Round 2 and the championship round, also at 7:00 p.m. CT. During Round 1, all 40 competing bull riders will each mount one bull. The top 36 riders from Round 1 will then advance to Round 2 on Saturday evening. The riders' individual two-round scores will be combined, with the top 10 advancing to the championship round for one final showdown and a chance to claim the event title.

PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour: The Premier Expansion Series

Since its launch in 2014, the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour has been the premier expansion series in the sport. This tour brings the adrenaline-pumping PBR action to American towns not on the schedule for the premier series, showcasing both aspiring bull riders and seasoned PBR superstars.

PBR runs and produces the PWVT, which guarantees the best possible experience for fans. However, this tour is unique in that it serves as the main and most significant qualification series for bull riders to earn the points required to advance to the PBR World Finals and, eventually, the Unleash The Beast (UTB).

Furthermore, winners of PWVT regular-season events earn a coveted spot at one UTB event during the season. This offers emerging talent a chance to elevate their standings in the global bullriding rankings. The PWVT Finals, held just before the PBR World Finals, feature the top 35 riders from the series competing for the final five positions at the PBR World Finals, making it a crucial event on the schedule.
